Sycamore

My body's starting to decay,
My mouth is dry,
I'm trying to fight the urge to fall sleep,
I don't wanna die,
Soil begins to pull me down,
Submerged from head to toe,
I can feel my b-b-body's spread,
I'm trying to lift my head,
But I'm taking root and starting to grow,
I'm a beautiful sycamore,
Oh, I don't have to care about anything anymore,
You'll try to find me and I understand,
You know this city like the back of your hand,
But deep roots are holding me down,
We said one day we'd run away,
But it's been twenty seven years and I don't recall your name,
Oh God I can't remember your name.

Lost Without You

Cold tofu turkey's growing mould,
This house is bloody freezing cold,
This po-mo stuff is nice, but it's irrelevant,
(To the way I feel right now),
Me and this old heart of mine,
We've been through this a good few times,
But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the sentiment,
This was a friendship formed under false pretences,
Taunted by the polaroid that's pinned upon your door,
It's true I'm lost without you,
But only marginally more lost than before,
It hurts to squander such rapport,
It's true I'm lost without you,
But only marginally more lost than before,
Day six, I'm really losing it,
I've got a backache from the coughing fits,
And this Derridean 'affect' stuff is crazy,
(When you're weighing on my mind),
I threw my phone away,
So you couldn't call and I couldn't say,
The words I knew would eventually betray me,
'Of Grammatology' just got the best of me,
The Four Tops said it best,
All those years ago,
This is damaging my heath,
Those Four Tops said it best,
'I Can't Help Myself'.
